A few changes at Ghost Community HQ

Recently, there have been a few changes at GCHQ and one of those changes is the departure of our good friend, Rob Gerrard. As you are aware, Rob stepped in to the role last year and it was understood from the outset that it might not be a permanent role.

It is with the greatest of regret that Ghost Community will not be playing Danfest, this year. We send our sincerest apologies to Danny and his team…

About Ghost Community

Every single day, we see, communicate with and experience many “ghosts”, all of whom make up our very small world. As we go about our business in our daily lives, we cross paths with individuals who exist merely as voices at the end of a digital connection. We travel the country and the globe passing though borders, and making eye contact with their gatekeepers – and yet these moments are fleeting and all too soon forgotten.

We take up our positions on a stage and perform for a sea of smiling faces, faces that belong to people who travel far and wide, passionately supporting our every move, and yet we never really get to know them. With the advent of the Internet and the ever increasing prominence of social media channels, we impart information to and share details with hundreds if not thousands of strangers every day, feeling connected to them despite never having met in the “real” world.

This planet that we frequent – and which has become our collective home – is affected by many incredibly powerful, invisible factors that work together continuously to keep us alive. Those subtle, often hidden mechanisms determine how we live our lives and bring us all together. In a fast moving world we sometimes forget the one thing that truly holds everything together: people. These people are the “ghosts” that make up our community.

Without each other, what do we have?

This is the Ghost Community. This is our community. This is your community.

In it, we all stand together.

John Paul doing what he does best. We tried out our new microphone tonight and the difference in quality is, incredible. The combination of an amazing voice, ace music with the right gear to capture that magic is, a special thing. We’re so excited to get this music out to you. Happy days ⭐️🎧🎤 xxxx #GCHQ #Vocals #AstonMics #TheVocalTart #Album2 #TGE #Recording #LovingIt

Time to get excited.

I bought a protools controller from a studio in London two months ago, and they showed me one and said it was " mind blowing!" When they said it was "2 1/2", I thought they meant grand. Looking forward to trying one.....

Can someone in London please go down to College Green (Westminster), wearing a Ghost Community t-shirt and waving a big flag that says, "GHOST COMMUNITY, WE WANT YOU IN EUROPE!!" We will be extremely appreciative. Seems a shame to waste a perfect televisual advertising angle 🤩😬🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 xxxx

I like the idea of the 2 most prominent TV platforms rising ever higher, as in ‘mine’s bigger than yours ‘!

Ghost Community

Hello dear Ghostly ones. It’s finally time……. Recording for the new album starts on Friday 25th January. At Last! Everything is in place and ready to go. There is however one small, temporary, change. We received a phone call from our International Man Of Mystery, Martin, about a health issue he is currently dealing with. For the past 4 months he has been having a few problems with his hands, especially, his right hand. After a recent consultation, it transpires that Martin has a condition called “Dupuytren’s Disease / Contracture” also commonly known as “Viking’s Disease”. This basically means that he has difficulty straightening his fingers. Clearly an issue if he wants to play music but more importantly, this condition causes him issues that we all take for granted, on a day to day basis.

This is something that cannot be “cured” but it can be helped in several ways and that is what Martin is now looking at, with the aid of his consultant. Martin felt it necessary to take a step back from Ghost Community and the album, for obvious reasons. He has to have a clearer picture of what can be done and, when it can be done. That’s his focus and we’re behind him every step of the way. He has no idea how long he may be “out of action” and has therefore advised that we look for an alternative player to fulfil the album duties and any future live dates. We reluctantly, accepted that proposal. He wants the band to keep moving forward and to produce the best album we can. Such a selfless and kind act from a big hearted and lovely man.

We must emphasise that Martin hasn’t left the band and certainly hasn’t been kicked out, just to pre-empt any questions / speculation. As it stands, Martin’s position is open for as long as he wants it and, he has our fullest support. It does mean that we must get a keyboard player for the album. There was only one option that made sense to us and that is our former keyboard player, current The Reasoning keyboard player, Rob Gerrard.

Rob understood the situation and kindly put some things aside to make this happen. We are ever so grateful to him for stepping in at such short notice and we know he will give it his all to make this happen. Rob will also, until further notice be our live keyboard player. We had some dates booked in March that we were going to announce funnily enough, this week but for obvious reasons, we have postponed those shows. We are desperately trying to re-arrange them for late May, after Trinity. We will keep you posted.

It's never an easy ride in any business but with the right attitude, support and friendships, anything can be achieved even during the most critical of times. As we’ve always said, “We’re All In This Together”. The past 48 hours have proven that.

More news soon and as things progress, we’ll be sharing updates from the studio. We’ll also share any news on Martin’s progress. We wish him all the very best of luck and can’t wait to hook up for some beers and giggles soon. Be well sir. For now, it’s heads down, arses up and let’s get this album done and get ready, to gig. Passengers, Get On Board.
